The 17th European edition of the Sustainable Foods Summit will take place in Amsterdam on 18–19 June 2026, reaffirming its position as one of the leading international forums for debate on the future of sustainable food. A topic that has always been close to ICEA’s heart, the organisation is once again renewing its partnership with the Summit this year.
The event will be structured around four thematic sessions – Sustainability Impacts, Food Ingredients, Ethical Sourcing & Biodiversity and Marketing Trends – featuring a programme that brings together environmental sustainability, ingredient innovation, biodiversity protection and marketing strategies.
Proceedings will open with the Sustainability Impacts session, examining the different ways in which companies and industry operators are addressing the impacts of their activities on sustainability, with particular emphasis on environmental aspects. Key topics will include decarbonisation of ingredient supply chains, the water footprint of food products, measuring the impact of plastics in packaging and updates on environmental footprint labelling. The agenda will also feature practical case studies and panel discussions exploring the economic implications of sustainable choices.
Attention will then turn to the food ingredients of the future, including precision fermentation, upcycling and new alternatives such as bean-free cocoa and coffee. Discussions will also cover deforestation-free agricultural supply chains and the use of artificial intelligence to assess risks across the supply chain.
The third session will focus on ethical sourcing and biodiversity, with contributions addressing regenerative agriculture, regulatory developments and nature-based certifications. Particular attention will also be given to the role of marketing and consumer perceptions of biodiversity-friendly products, in a context where ecosystem protection is becoming not only an ethical responsibility but also a competitive advantage.
The Summit will conclude with a session dedicated to marketing trends, including analysis of the evolution of the plant-based market, the distribution of organic and sustainable products, and the use of artificial intelligence in digital marketing. The agenda will also explore emerging consumer trends and the levers capable of driving positive change within the food system.
In a sector that is rapidly redefining priorities and production models, the Amsterdam Summit aims to serve as a strategic platform for dialogue among businesses, experts and stakeholders, with the goal of transforming sustainability from a complex challenge into a driver of innovation. The event is organised by Ecovia Intelligence, a London-based research, consulting and training company specialising in global ethical product industries.
ICEA proudly supports the Summit and will participate in the scheduled meetings to gain insight into the future outlook of the food sector and to identify the sustainable trends shaping the food industry.
