The cosmetics and personal care industry faces a rapidly changing sustainability landscape. Climate change, geopolitical tensions, regulatory developments, raw material volatility and evolving consumer expectations present challenges and opportunities for businesses across the value chain.
These issues will be at the heart of the 18th European edition of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit, taking place in Paris on 27–28 October 2026. ICEA is supporting the event as a supporting organisation and will be represented by Rosalinda Nardi, R&D Cosmetics at ICEA, who will act as a moderator.
Organised by Ecovia Intelligence, the Summit will bring together industry executives and experts to examine approaches to sustainable innovation, supply chain resilience and changing consumer behaviour. The programme features four sessions covering sustainability developments, green ingredients, sustainable supply chains and customer impacts.
Discussions on supply chains will address environmental and social risks associated with cosmetic ingredients, alongside strategies to improve transparency, traceability and ethical sourcing. Other topics include the transition towards bio-based chemicals, sustainable alternatives to deforestation-linked oils, Scope 3 emissions, circular packaging and water stewardship.
On the innovation front, speakers will examine regenerative agriculture, low-carbon ingredients, green chemistry, upcycled ingredients and biotechnology, including fermentation-based processes. They will also discuss the emerging role of artificial intelligence in developing sustainable cosmetic formulations.
The session dedicated to consumers will explore the relationship between sustainability, purchasing behaviour and business strategy. Speakers will examine changing consumer expectations, green-claims verification and the marketing of sustainable products.
The Summit will take place at the Crowne Plaza Paris-République. The winners of the 2026 Sustainable Beauty Awards will be announced on the evening of 27 October. Since 2013, the awards have recognised sustainability initiatives in the cosmetics and personal care industry.
