Since its founding, the ICEA approach to certification has stood out for both its specialization in the field of sustainability of agricultural and livestock production systems and for the ability to work all-round in various sectors such as cosmetics, textiles, building, and tourism.
According to the vision of ICEA, these areas that seem apparently independent of each other retain elements of strong synergy with the agricultural production field, seen as the source of production of renewable raw materials of which all sectors can (and must) take advantage in order to define a model of sustainable economy.
ICEA certifies cosmetic products in accordance with COSMOS, the main international standard for organic and natural cosmetics and the regulations for EcoBioCosmesi (Eco-friendly Organic Cosmetics) ICEA. The limited use of dangerous substances and the reduced impact on the ecosystem of cleansing products are verified and certified in accordance with the requirements of EcoBioDetergenza (Eco-friendly Organic Cleaning) ICEA.
ICEA provides a wide range of certification services for the textile sector which include:
- organic textiles in compliance with GOTS and OCS;
- textile products made of recycled fibers in compliance with GRS and RCS;
- padded products with feathers and down from geese and ducks, bred in respect of animal welfare in compliance with RDS.
ICEA certifies sustainable building materials in ANAB-ICEA and Natureplus standards. The Institute also certifies the material’s suitability for LEED credits and collaborates with Tecnalia for the EPD verification and validation.
With the sustainable tourism’s certification, ICEA certifies a model of tourism that protects the environment, enhances the historical, artistic and cultural heritage and promotes the places and the traditions of the local communities.
ICEA belongs to the Ethical Work Network of CISE for SA8000 certifying responsible business models that combine the respect for human and social rights and concern for the environment, according to the Social Value standard.
ICEA works as an inspection body on behalf of Soil Association, an internationally accredited certification body for the certification of forests, plantations, and wood products.
