Certification process

The certification process requires ICEA to verify that products or services placed on the market comply with organic standards or other voluntary product or service specifications. Although not all certifications follow the same procedure, the certification process can be divided into four main phases:

  1. Preliminary assessment. ICEA evaluates the documents prepared by the company to verify compliance with the requirements of the product specification and certification regulations.
  2. On-site inspection. ICEA sends a Controller Technician to the company premises. Pursuant to the provisions of the certification specification, the technician inspects production processes, takes samples of the products to be certified for laboratory testing, verifies records and accounting documents and carries out all the assessments to prove compliance with the requirements of conformity.
  3. Issue of the Certificate of Conformity. Based on the information and data collected as part of the assessment and on-site inspection, and in the absence of anomalies, ICEA issues a certificate of conformity for products or services.
  4. Surveillance: inspections and periodic analysis. ICEA establishes a plan for regular checks to verify and confirm the maintenance of compliance conditions.
