ROC (Regenerative Organic Certified)

Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC) was established by the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA) in 2017 for food supply chains, textiles and personal care ingredients.

INFORMAZIONI

ICEA is proud to offer Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC) certification in addition to its other certification services. This scheme was established by the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA)in 2017 for food supply chains, textiles, and personal care ingredients.
The standard’s requirements apply to soil health, animal welfare and farm worker equity.
The ROC standard is overseen by the ROA, a nonprofit organization made up of a group of experts in agriculture, animal husbandry, soil health, animal welfare and farmer-worker equity. It was founded by the Rodale Institute, Dr. Bronner’s and Patagonia. Other members of the alliance include Compassion in World Farming, Fair World Project and Textile Exchange.

The three pillars of ROC certification

1 . SOIL HEALTH.
Use of regenerative practices such as cover crops, crop rotation and conservation tillage. Increases organic matter and promotes biodiversity without synthetic inputs. Out-of-soil systems are excluded;

2. ANIMAL WELFARE.
Wide access to and use of pasture. Husbandry practices that ensure the five freedoms of animals:

  •  Freedom from thirst, hunger and poor nutrition;
  • Freedom to have a suitable physical environment;
  •  Freedom from pain, injury, and disease;
  •  Freedom to manifest behavioral characteristics;
  •  Freedom from fear and discomfort.

3. SOCIAL EQUITY.
Ensure fair decent payments and wages for farmers and farm workers, safe working conditions, capacity building and freedom of association.

Request for Certification

The ROC certification application process is managed by the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA), so interested companies must first apply online at https://regenorganic.org/application/, indicating ICEA as the certification body of choice. Currently, because Regenerative Organic Certified® is an exclusive program, ICEA is pleased to be one of the few certification bodies that can provide this service.

Annual fees are payable directly to ROA for all companies, as defined in the following document:

https://regenorganic.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/ROC_Cost_and_Fee_Structure.pdf

FOR AGRICULTURAL AND/OR FOOD PROCESSING COMPANIES.
In addition to the ROA fees, there is the annual cost of ICEA certification. To request a quote, send e-mail to  regenerative@icea.bio

FOR TEXTILE AND COSMETIC COMPANIES.
There is no cost for the certification body, only the fees required by the ROA will have to be paid annually. To apply for ROC certification, the prerequisite is that the raw materials from the agricultural stage (plant and/or animal fibers, ingredients, etc.), are already ROC certified.

Membership in the certification is handled directly by ROA, as defined in the following link:

In any case, textile and cosmetic supply chains, which intend to obtain ROC certification, are required to take the following steps:

  • Define the supply chain, starting with ROC certification for all producers of raw materials of agricultural origin (plant and/or animal fibers, ingredients,etc.);
  • Start the application process to obtain ROA license as a Brand or actor in the supply chain https://regenorganic.org/apply-for-licensing-with-the-roa/
