Valore Sociale certifies all organizations and companies (especially SMEs). Those that have direct or indirect involvement in the following activities deemed socially irresponsible (e.g. weapons production, pornography, etc.) are strictly excluded. It
enhances and identifies the companies that have adopted a Management System that covers all dimensions of Social Responsibility, including environmental aspects.
Association Valore Sociale born January 19, 2006, after years of study and preparation, by the will of these organizations: Action Aid Italy , Amnesty International Italy , ARCI , the Cultural Foundation for Ethical Responsibility , Mani Tese , Consumer Movement , the Citizen Defense Movement , UCODEP .
The Associazione Valore Sociale has created the Standard Social Value which is not only a technical tool , but also an indication of a different organizational culture , based on extreme attention to people and the environment.
The specification is the result of the long comparison of two Committees, the Participation and the Scientific ones . It was a complex consultation, but of a high quality profile: for the vastness of the representations concerned, for the variety of skills involved, for the levels of responsibility expressed.
The Social Value Standard can be used as a self-assessment tool for companies and their suppliers, expresses itself concretely, speaks to entrepreneurs and managers who struggle day by day and who want to know “in practice” what it means (just to do an example) “protect human rights”.
The Social Value Standard, applied to organizations and businesses wishing to obtain certification, allows you to take advantage of a brand that declares their social responsibility . In this way – through a recognizable brand known to consumers and service users, the guarantee of responsibly made products or services: a certified organization can prove the social quality of products or services.
The Social Value certification promotes companies that:
- have adopted a Social Responsibility Management System that integrates, in addition to the economic one, also the social and environmental aspects in accordance with the Social Value Standard
- promote respect, consolidation and development of fundamental rights , social development, equal opportunities and environmental protection within their sphere of influence
- disseminate transparent information on the social and environmental characteristics of certified companies.
Companies whose direct or indirect involvement is ascertained in the following activities deemed socially irresponsible are excluded from the certification and the possibility of obtaining the “Social Value” mark: production and marketing of weapons; scientific experiments on weak or unprotected human or animal subjects; economic activities that derive from and / or that are based on relationships of direct complicity with regimes that are known not to respect human rights and / or which are seriously responsible for the destruction of the environment; pornography and commodification of sex; gamble.
